According to the restaurant’s official website, “Baekjeong” is the Korean word for “butcher” and reflects the eatery’s commitment to “serve only the highest quality meats.” It states that it “offers a truly outstanding Korean cultural dining experience, showcasing the rich authentic flavors and the unique qualities of Korean barbecue.” Items on the menu include Radish Kimchi Cold Noodles, Beef Brisket Soybean Paste Stew, and Beef Mountain Tripe.
In line with tradition, Baekejeong in South Bay will have its cooks prepare everything from meats to sides like corn cheese and steamed eggs on tabletop grills in front of diners.
The eatery is owned and operated by Kijung Hospitality Group, which opened the first stateside outpost in Los Angeles in October 2012. Since then, Baekjeong has expanded to seven restaurants in California and New York.
According to San Francisco Chronicle, the eatery’s projected opening is in February.
