Taking over the Little Bee Bakery space at 521 Cortland Avenue in Bernal Heights, the eatery will land near establishments such as Barebottle Brewing Company, Cake Coquette, and Rock and Rose Landscapes.

Stagg tells the journal that the owner of Little Bee, Stacie Pierce, “wanted to see it go to somebody that would keep it local and carry on the space.” He continues, “That was something that we couldn’t refuse, and it’s the perfect fit for us.”

Locals can expect Bernal Basket to be a “classic San Francisco-style sourdough bakery,” offering around a dozen types of bread, pastries —including croissants, danishes, and scones — as well as breakfast sandwiches, and antipasti.

Bernal Basket is slated to open in March.
