Permits have been filed for a restaurant in the old former home of SO Restaurant.

It looks like a new cafe is headed to SoMa. Greg Poon has applied for permits to open Beyond Cafe at 1010 Bryant Street, on the corner of 8th and Bryant across from the Trader Joes complex.

The space, which neighbors a parking lot and Henry’s Hunan, was once the home of the MSG-championing Chinese restaurant SO.

Greg Poon was not immediately available for comment, and there’s no word yet on when Beyond Cafe plans to open its doors.

There’s a little competition on the block — L’acajou Bakery and Cafe is just down the street and Peet’s Coffee is around the corner — but if you ask us, there’s really no such thing as too much coffee (or too many snacks).
