Indoor mini golf, restaurant, bar, and event space Urban Putt is opening a new location in San Jose.
Coming to Suite 150 at 201 S 2nd Street, the establishment will neighbor St. James Park, near restaurants such as Devine Cheese & Wine, Freshly Baked Eatery, and Teske’s Germania.
“I really wanted to be able to create one more Urban Putt that would be the culmination of everything I’ve learned over the past ten years,” Founder and Managing Partner Steve Fox tells What Now San Francisco.
Fox founded Urban Putt in San Francisco in 2014, and a second location in Denver in 2019 — two locations that have since been purchased by Australian entertainment company Funlab.
Currently in the middle of the build-out, Fox discloses, “We’ve installed several of the pieces already — we’ve built an indoor submarine, we have a crashed UFO, we’ve got various San Jose landmarks that run throughout — all of these completely interactive, wondrous constructions.”
The 13,000-square-foot facility will be the largest Urban Putt yet and include a custom-built bar, a full dining area — equipped with two, 20-foot long tables, each with more than 1000 golf balls embedded within a layer of clear epoxy — and a mezzanine that overlooks the facility.
On the menu, patrons can expect elevated gastropub cuisine — “Food that has a sense of playfulness, but that’s delicious. Not fussy, but high quality,” says Fox — and an innovative cocktail program.
As with all of the Urban Putt locations, Fox shares that “the idea is to create a sense of wonder and awe and joy.”
Urban Putt San Jose is slated this November.
