Tea on Piedmont is a locally-owned tea café opening at 4098 Piedmont Ave. in Oakland. The shop is founded by Tea On Inc., a knowledgeable team of women who come from a diverse set of backgrounds in tea culture, food and beverage hospitality, marketing, and tech. A representative from the group, who is also the owner of the shop, says that they hope to open officially by early December.
Tea on Piedmont will sell tea drinks made with boba, agar boba, and fruit purées, alongside pastries and baked goods sourced from local pop-up bakers. The café aims to take customers on a deeper dive into the tea that goes into making their drinks, from traditional black teas such as ceylon and assam, to green teas like jasmine or matcha.
The shop is globally inspired by tea culture seen in different parts of the world, so it aims to become a hub for customers to enjoy tea drinks in ways that they might not be familiar with. Tea on Piedmont’s website and social media are currently under construction, but the owner did divulge that they are currently formulating recipes to serve in time for their opening.
In regards to the menu, much like many other businesses, Tea on Piedmont is currently waiting for some of their inventory that is still out at sea due to the current state of global supply chain congestion. However, they will still open with a limited menu including drinks made with black tea, jasmine and oolong. These will be available as soon as the cafe opens after zoning clearances and health inspections with the city of Oakland are complete.
