Christian Conte, the restaurateur behind popular dining destination Drake’s San Carlos, is planning to debut a new concept in the city, SC Noodle House.
Taking over the former home of San Carlos Bar & Grill at 648 Camino Real, the eatery will land just down the street from Drake’s, near restaurants such as House of Bagels and the Greek restaurant Pylos.
“This will be the kind of place you can come, watch the game, and enjoy some really tasty Asian dishes,” Conte tells What Now San Francisco.
On the menu, expect Vietnamese pho made with oxtail broth alongside Asian-inspired dishes such as fresh spring rolls, wings, Korean tacos, banh mi sandwiches, Kobe beef steak, lemongrass chicken, Burmese salad, drunken noodles, and pad Thai, to name a few. The restaurant has already received its liquor license, so patrons can also expect an expansive cocktail menu, boasting beverages like mojitos and mai tais, as well as a large selection of Japanese whiskey.
The space will seat around 90 indoors — 70 at tables and custom-built booths, as well as 20 at the bar — and 25 more seats will be available on the dog-friendly outdoor patio.
Renovations to the Camino Real space are slated to begin in September and are described as cosmetic — “It has all the bones,” says Conte. As far as the atmosphere is concerned, imagine a “tropical humid vibe,” decorated with some furniture pieces that Conte and the restaurant team refinished themselves.
As of now, SC Noodle House is slated to begin slinging pho in mid-November or early December. After opening, the eatery will be open for lunch and dinner, from 11 am to 11 pm daily.
