Philz Coffee is coming to Bay Street Emeryville — joining existing tenants such as Humphrey Slocombe, Shake Shack, and Tipsy Putt.
CenterCal Properties, the Southern California-based property owner, recently announced the news, sharing that leases have also been signed by Copper & Malt — an alcoholic beverage distributor — and hair stylists Salon Republic.
For readers who are unfamiliar with Philz Coffee, the business offers a brief introduction on its website: “After opening a convenience store in the heart of the Mission District in 1978, Phil spent 25 years learning, experimenting, and blending, with the goal of making a really, good cup of coffee. His passion for brewing coffee and building community laid the foundation for the first Philz Coffee shop on January 1, 2003 in the Mission District of San Francisco. What began as a labor of love became a national love affair, with stores across California and Chicago.”
The coffee chain specializes in customized coffee blends “made from sustainably sourced green beans from around the world” that are roasted in-house.
