According to a recently submitted permit application, a new dining concept, Hayz Dog, is headed to San Francisco’s Civic Center neighborhood.
Taking over a space at 364 Hayes Street — an address shared with the furniture store Maker & Moss and a homewares shop, minimal — the restaurant will land near establishments such as Absinthe Brasserie & Bar, Hayes Street Grill, and Sugar Lounge.
Co-Owner David Alexander, who is listed on the application alongside Estes Investments, LLC, tells What Now San Francisco that the eatery will specialize in gourmet hotdogs — and that Boston-based chef David Bazirgan is behind the menu.
Options will include a Chicago-style dog, a banh mi-inspired option, a hotdog topped with helote and homemade lime mayo, and even a s’mores dog for dessert — a Hawaiian bun filled with banana, Nutella, marshmallows, graham crackers, and topped with chocolate sauce. Though the beer and wine license application is still pending, brews and bottles of California wine will be on the menu eventually.
The fast-casual eatery will offer counter service and five stools for dining indoors, as well as sidewalk tables and a parklet.
