Andrew Paul Nelson, one of the restauranteurs behind Fool’s Errand in Alamo Square and the Bay Area pop-up Habibi, plans to debut a new concept in San Francisco, Golden Sardine.
Coming to 362 Columbus Avenue, an address previously home to Family Cafe, the eatery will land near establishments such as Cafe Trieste, Elena Mediterranean Cuisine, and Il Casaro Pizzeria.
“I’ve had a lot of success with Fool’s Errand and Habibi,” Nelson tells Eater — adding, “But I’ve been trying to open my own thing.”
According to the journal, Golden Sardine will be a wine bar, bottle & tinned fish shop, and bookstore — serving predominately canned fish and cheese & meat plates to begin with, but intending to broaden the menu in the future.
Concerning the wine selection, Nelson shares, “It’ll be an unreasonable amount of riesling, mostly from Germany. I’ve been collecting this shit for years.”
Golden Sardine is slated to open at the beginning of 2024.
