Known for Bay Area eateries such as the Madrigal, Trestle, and Vault Steakhouse, Hi Neighbor is partnering with Sutro Lands End Partners, LLC “to consult on a collection of venues to fill the landmark building,” according to SF Eater — however, the collective’s name hasn’t yet been announced.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Cliff House, the neo-classic building first opened in 1863 and has become known for hosting restaurants that overlook the Sutro Bath ruins, as well as, of course, the Pacific Ocean.

“I think we take the responsibility seriously of this iconic place,” Hi Neighbor’s Co-Founder Ryan Cole tells Eater, adding, “We’re trying to create something that lasts for another 160 years.”

As far as renovations are concerned, BCV Architecture + Interiors has been hired to “activate the building’s outdoor decks, terraces, and street frontages.”

The venue is slated to open in late 2024. Stay tuned for updates.
