Coming to 3355 Mission Street — an address that formerly belonged to Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack, where Chicano Nuevo’s owner, Chef Abraham Nuñez, used to bartend — the eatery will land near establishments such as Four Chairs, La Alteña, and The Magic Patio.

The menu is still in the works, but Nuñez tells What Now San Francisco that locals can anticipate a slightly elevated Tijuana street food experience. However, he makes clear that Chicano Nuevo’s signature dishes — think baja fish tacos, tamale negro, and WuTang flan — aren’t going anywhere.

Additionally, the eatery will boast a cocktail program helmed by Trevin Hutchins of the Michelin-starred Aphotic restaurant in Yerba Buena.

Chicano Nuevo is slated to open in late summer. In the meantime, find Nuñez at Evil Eye at 2937 Mission Street on Sundays and Mondays.
