For readers who are unfamiliar with Vallarta Supermarkets, the Mexican-style grocery store chain is known for its vast selection of traditional foods from Mexico and Central and South America — items like cut-to-order Latin-style meats, spices, fresh fruit, and produce.
Since Founder Enrique Gonzalez Sr. opened Vallarta’s flagship in Van Nuys in 1985, the supermarket has expanded its offerings to include a juice and aguas frescas bar, a tortilleria, a bakery, and a cevicheria.
Additionally, each Vallarta Supermarket boasts a section called La Cocina that offers prepared meals for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, as well as meal kits and party trays. For patrons who want to have some pan dulce or tacos at home, orders can be delivered through DoorDash.
The 10-year lease for the 94,967-square-foot space begins in October 2023, however, an opening date has not yet been announced. Follow Vallarta Supermarkets on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
As of 2022, the family-owned chain boasts 53 stores throughout California — in Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Kern, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Tulare, Orange, and Fresno counties.
