Do you remember Tisza? The Sonoma County bistro and bar has been a favorite date night jaunt for a few years until 2020, when the pandemic forced them to close indefinitely. In August of that year they said they would “take some time to reflect on the last 3 years and perhaps reinvent ourselves down the road.”

Now it seems that the time has come. A pending beer and wine license for Tisza is circulating through state public records, indicating a triumphant return for the restaurant. It will be moving into the site of the former Singletree Cafe at 165 Healdsburg Ave.

Chef Krisztian Karkus confirmed the news with What Now San Francisco. While there is no opening date set at this time, he estimates that they will be ready to open doors by early summer at the latest.

We can’t wait to see what Karkus has in store for the return of Tisza. Can we expect the old world charm fused with modern elegance that many Sonoma locals have fallen in love with?

We can’t help but think of his elevated dishes inspired by local flavors and Sonoma County wines. Or will this indeed be a complete reinvention of Tisza’s menu and ambiance? Stay tuned to find out.
