Offering sweeping views of the University of California–Berkeley campus as well as unobstructed views of downtown Oakland, San Francisco, and the Bay, Study Hall Rooftop Lounge aims to bring a “modern, eclectic experience to the local community.”

A craft cocktail program, led by general manager Jerry Scheible, features unique takes on classic cocktails, in addition to 16 taps featuring all-local beers (including Fieldwork, Gillman, Drake’s, 21st Amendment, Novel, Almanac, and more) and a full wine list that’s heavy on the California bottles.

The cocktail menu will change seasonally, and highlights from opening range from the Kombucherol Spritz (a take on the Aperol spritz, made with local Boochcraft kombucha), the Campus Bird (a Mai Tai-inspired blend of rum, Campari, pineapple, and lime), and the Not Toddy (a cold version of the classic with bourbon, lemon, and honey).

The menu, developed and led by Executive Chef Peter Houck, is designed for sharing and features a range of dishes that pair with the bar’s innovative cocktail program. The menu features a Kimchi Rice Bowl with a choice of teriyaki chicken, kalbi beef short ribs, braised pork belly, miso baked salmon, or a plant-based patty (served with sticky rice, local kimchi, local greens, stir-fried vegetables, chili aioli, fried egg). Other menu highlights include:
Crispy Fried Brussels Sprouts (sweet soy glaze, Fresno chile, peanuts) CALamari (chipotle mayo, sweet chili sauce) the Study Hall burger (two 4-oz Wagyu patties, cheddar, house secret sauce, brioche bun) Pork Belly Bahn Mi (soy-braised pork belly, pickled carrots and daikon, jalapeno, cilantro)

Study Hall Rooftop Lounge will feature live music regularly, with “Study Hall Sessions,” a well-curated, eclectic program with acoustic and lower-volume sets from beloved local artists, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. A DJ will play sets from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. A comprehensive music calendar is available here; guests staying at the Residence Inn and Study Hall goers will enjoy nightly music with no cover fee.

Study Hall Rooftop Lounge is open Sunday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 4:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.
