When Rambler first opened at 545 Post Street, it quickly became one of the most popular restaurants in the area. Replacing Wolfgang Puck’s legendary Postrio at the Hotel Zeppelin, Rambler was stepping into some pretty massive shoes. Lesser restaurants would have faltered, but Rambler thrived in the space and quickly cultivated a positive word-of-mouth reputation thanks to its focus on serving elevated, thoughtful cuisine.

When the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world in 2020, the future was murky for restaurants like Rambler. What began as a temporary closure slowly escalated as the weeks of outbreaks continued to stack. The temporary closures became permanent and more and more businesses began shutting their doors for good. Rambler’s future remained uncertain until now.
According to a DPH referral uncovered by a What Now San Francisco investigation, it appears that Rambler is gearing up to reopen at the Hotel Zeppelin. The hotel filed for the referral under Rambler’s name on September 5th, indicating that the hotel is planning on reopening Rambler and is very early into the process of doing so.
Rambler was started by Hat Trick Hospitality, owned by restaurateurs Adam Snyder, Andy Wasserman, and Hugo Gamboa. In addition to Rambler, the team also owns and operates Redford, Sabrosa, as well as both Brixton restaurants.
The Hotel Zepplin, meanwhile, is one of the coolest hotels in San Francisco. Celebrating the city’s “bold, bohemian” past, the Zeppelin offers patrons a “mind-altering experience” with “stylish deliver” inspired by the city’s many artists, writers, and musicians. Teaming up with Hat Trick to open up Rambler added some serious clout to both ventures. The two innovative spaces were the perfect compliment for one another.
While the recent finding indicates a plan to reopen, any further details about the timeline remain unknown. For the further updates as the story breaks, be sure to follow What Now San Francisco for the latest and greatest in breaking restaurant news.
