Nori Nakamura, Owner and Winemaker at Noria Wines, has applied for a permit for a new location at 725 Gilman St, Suite A. The spot is located off the Interstate 80 Gilman exit and is close to Whole Foods, Broc Cellars, Donkey and Goat Winery, Fieldwork Brewing Co., and Gilman Brewing.
The space is 2,380 square feet and offers a large patio area, high ceilings, concrete floors, and parking. The permit application states that the new location is primarily intended for light manufacturing use, but will also offer food service, tastings, and retail sales — allowing customers to try and buy wine manufactured onsite.
According to the Noria Wines website, “Noria is a niche wine combining fruity, smooth, and elegant tastes reminiscent of sake,” created specifically with Japanese cuisine in mind. The wine is made from grapes grown in Napa and Sonoma County, and Nakamura works with Bevill Family Vineyards, Sangiacomo Family Vineyards, and Michael Valentine Vineyard.
Nakamura shares on the wine label’s website that he earned a Sommelier Certification in Tokyo before enrolling in the viticulture program at UC Davis, which he graduated from in 2002. Subsequently, he has gone on to become Assistant Winemaker at Koves-Newlan, Pine Ridge Vineyards, and Artesa, as Head Winemaker at Jamison Ranch, and he is currently at Larson Family Winery.
