Keys Jazz Bistro will open at 498 Broadway in the former Horizon Restaurant and Lounge of North Beach by the end of this year. The new bar and restaurant will be a music community gathering spot that aims to emulate the clubs from San Francisco’s jazz scene of the ‘50s through the ‘70s.

Keys Jazz Bistro is brought to us by Simon Rowe, a professional jazz pianist who helped establish and lead the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s jazz program from 2016 through June 2021. Rowe tells the San Francisco Business Times that since then, he has been working hard to transform the 4,000-square foot space into what he envisions as a “hub and home for the best performers in the Bay Area.”
The restaurant floor plan is U-shaped with a bar near the entrance and “a more proper concert listening area around the bend.” While details regarding the food and beverage service have not been revealed yet, Rowe says that he wants to have “a very nice high quality casual dining offering… I’m confident there’s a strong desire for the mixture of concert-izing and socializing and food and drink.” Additional details about Keys Jazz Bistro should be forthcoming over the next few months.
