In downtown Napa, a new business that’s equal parts cafe, wine bar, record store, and radio station is in the works for 1226 Third St. Owners Faith Henschel-Ventrello and Steven Ventrello purchased a one-story commercial condo space from Jim Keller and associates for $2.18 million in December.

Henschel-Ventrello tells What Now San Francisco that they are currently subject to city permitting schedules, awaiting approval to begin a full buildout from scratch. The space will be a cafe and wine bar serving beer, coffee, wine, and perhaps items like charcuterie or paninis. The menu is still being developed.

Henschel-Ventrello started non-profit public radio station KCMU 103.3 FM in 2017 and will continue to broadcast from a sound booth tucked in the corner of Folklore when they are up and running. While you listen to music emanating from the radio waves, you can also shop for records to take home.

“I want the music to sound amazing,” she tells the Napa Valley Register. “I have about 10,000 records already. We’re going to have new vinyl, used vinyl, and will buy used records as well. The depth of our record collection is going to be great.”

Folklore is scheduled to open late this summer. A website and social media accounts are still being worked on, so in the meantime you can keep an eye on Third Street in downtown Napa to watch how development unfolds.
