Burma Bay, a Bay Area-based restaurant concept known for serving “authentic Burmese cuisine with a modern touch,” is planning to open its third outpost — this time in Fremont.
Coming to 47966 Warm Springs Boulevard, the eatery will take over an ample space that was formerly home to Ho Chow Restaurant, near establishments such as Five Spice Indian Grocery, Kazuma Sushi, and Sala Thai.
Tung Aung, who owns the business alongside his partner Yong Ming Yang, tells What Now San Francisco that the restaurant will have capacity for around 80 diners and that the menu and concept will remain the same as the Burma Bay outpost in Santa Clara.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the eatery, Burma Bay is known for its tea leaf salad — a traditional dish made of Burmese tea leaves, fried garlic, yellow beans, peanuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, jalapeños and lemon, served on a bed of cabbage and romaine lettuce.
“The country’s cuisine is strongly influenced by neighboring countries India, China, and Thailand, so we have many fusion dishes such curries and plates like pad thai,” Aung says.
According to a recently submitted license application, the eatery is also planning offer a selection of beer and wine.
