Chef Tony Carracci, who founded Black Star Pirate BBQ in Point San Pablo Harbor, is getting ready to debut his next big project. Carracci and his team have taken over the oldest bar in Richmond at 135 Park Place and turned it into a dining and music venue called Baltic Kiss.

“It’s one of the coolest projects I’ve ever done,” says Carracci, whose industry experience has influenced plenty of restaurants and venues throughout the Bay Area, including San Francisco’s Cha Cha Cha, Pound SF, and Cat Club. In a phone call with What Now San Francisco this week, Carracci says that they’ve gutted and put back together the historic restaurant space, which was built in 1904.
The 2,200-square foot restaurant was formerly known simply as The Baltic and more recently, Baltic Spice House. As Baltic Kiss, the restaurant will be returning to its use as a music venue in conjunction with a full bar and restaurant.
The primary room of the building has been outfitted with a fresh stage and an updated sound system, while the adjoining side rooms have high-top tables. The main dining space will be on the 1,500-square foot outdoor deck, which will be serving up a Southern Comfort-style menu.
Based on the rave reviews for the Pulled Pork, Tri Tip, and other BBQ favorites that Carracci serves at Black Star, we’re sure that Baltic Kiss’s menu will be just as crave-worthy. He says that Baltic Kiss has been influenced by the touch of his barbecue restaurant, in that it will be just as eclectic, lively, and an all around great place to hang out.
An opening is planned for the beginning of August. A website and social media accounts are forthcoming. Stay tuned.
