Hotbird’s Nashville hot chicken sandwiches will soon have a new home in uptown Oakland. Originating as a mobile food operation in 2017, it wasn’t long before Hotbird announced plans for their first brick-and-mortar at The Market, an upscale food hall in the Twitter building.

But as many pandemic-related stories go, these plans have been perpetually derailed, despite Hotbird’s success operating out of a temporary prep kitchen in the same location. A couple years later and still no permanent space at The Market, co-owners Aaron Nam and Caleb Longacre decided to move to a space at 1951 Telegraph Ave., near 19th St. Oakland Station.

Nam told What Now San Francisco this week that they are nearly ready to open their doors to the public, but are still finalizing details on their extended menu. In addition to their signature spicy sandwiches and Arnold Palmers, customers can look forward to craft beers and soju cocktails, plus more food items to go along with them.

While their temporary digs in San Francisco required guests to find a spot in an outdoor lawn, their official brick-and-mortar is big enough to accomodate 50 seats for indoor dining. We’re sure the lines at the official restaurant will be just as long as they were for the pop-ups.

Be on the lookout for an official name change from Hotbird SF to Hotbird Oakland for their website and social media accounts in the near future. Hotbird Oakland is scheduled to open around mid to late April. Stay tuned.
