According to Mercury News last week, a new dining concept has been submitted to San Jose city planners. It’s called Luke’s Rooftop Beer Garden and Restaurant and it would be joining the burgeoning retail and restaurant district in downtown Willow Glen.
Luke’s would be at 1093 Minnesota Ave. The plans propose demolishing the defunct Quik Stop building at the site and putting up a 4,800 square-foot building in its place. The new building would be two floors.
The proposal notes that the ground floor would include “a dining room, kitchen, restrooms, and brewery space for making beer.” The second floor would be the open-air rooftop terrace that will serve as the concept’s main dining room. Photos obtained by Mercury News suggest a modern neighborhood brewery and dining space with picnic benches and metal barstools.
According to public records, the proposal is attached to Russ Fukushima, a local entrepreneur who co-owns Water Tower Kitchen in Campbell. Stowers Associates are the architects who created the renderings of the new space. Neither could be reached for comment at the time of publication.
