Coming to a commercial kitchen space at 2701 Eighth Street, Suite 109, the concept will land near establishments such as Berkeley Humane, Juan’s Place, and The Acme Bread.
The business’s owner, Chef Michael de la Torre, tells What Now San Francisco that the brand and popup will continue producing handmade flour tortillas made in the style of Sonora, Mexico.
“XULO tortillas are always free of preservatives, additives and anything other than flour, water, fat and salt” — “utilizing the finest ingredients like organic flour from Central Milling and hormone-free animal fats from Liberty Ducks, Rancho Llano Seco and Encina Farms as well as organic butter from Straus Creamery,” the concept’s website adds.
While a brick-and-mortar might be in the business’s future, in the meantime, XULO tortillas can be found at markets including Berkeley Bowl, Bernal Cutlery, Good Eggs, Monterey Fish Market, Picnic Rotisserie, and Tahona Mercado.
