Mother’s Co-owner Mike Thiemann tells What Now San Francisco, “The space really spoke to us, we thought it would be a great spot for this concept,” adding, “It’s a great neighborhood.”

For readers who are unfamiliar with the restaurant, Mother made its debut in Sacramento in 2014 as a down-home vegetarian joint and quickly became known for its chicken-fried mushroom po’boy. Within just five years, Mother had earned itself a place on Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand list.

Offering more space than Mother’s previous home at 1023 K Street, Thiemann shares that the new location will be able to host about 50 guests inside, plus boast outdoor seating across two patios.

Additionally, joining the team alongside Mike, Lisa Thiemann, and Ryan Donahue, will be Chef Robb Venditti, who will work to expand the menu — and help Mother make the transition from lunch spot to dinner destination.

Mother is slated to reopen sometime this summer.
