Tostadas is a relatively young restaurant, having only begun on June 8th 2019. Founded by brothers Alex and Victor Garcia, the two grew up heavily influenced by their family. Their father was a chef who served in various restaurants across the bay, but it was their mother, Maria, who really bestowed them with their love for food. Named after their mother’s signature dish – Tostadas de Tinga, the new restaurant quickly cultivated a loyal following.

The brothers soon discovered that they had started something special, and as demand for their signature tostadas continued to soar, they were able to open a second location in mid-town San Jose – not an easy feat to accomplish in 2020. Thankfully though, Tostadas endured the difficulties brought on by the recent pandemic and managed to keep both restaurants open.

Now, the brothers are gearing up to yet again open another restaurant. This time they’ll be taking over the space previously occupied by Malaya, a popular Mexican restaurant that closed down last year. The new Tostadas restaurant will feature over 5,000 square feet of space on the ground floor and is expected to serve premium cocktails alongside their food options.

The lease is set to begin in November, so you’ve got some time before Tostadas will be operational. In the meantime, try out one of their original restaurants in Downtown or Midtown San Jose to see what all the fuss has been about.
