Owned and operated by Joseph Khatcherian, The Sunny Side Café began in 2003 as a breakfast and lunch joint that featured organic coffee, greens, farm fresh eggs and certified humanely-raised natural meats. With a focus on environmental sustainability, The Sunny Side Café goes above and beyond to eliminate food waste by composting food scraps and minimizing unnecessary portions. For the carbon-conscious coffee-connoisseur, the café even highlights “low carbon emission” food options on the menu.

With a focus on renewability and sustainability, The Sunny Side Café is the perfect compliment to Epicurious Garden, the gourmet food court that follows the philosophy of Epicurious – pursuing pleasure and happiness around food and gardens. Combing the twin pleasures of eating and enjoying nature, Epicurious Garden is the perfect location for a green-conscious café like Sunny Side.

At the moment, Epicurious already features a few different restaurants, such as Lush Gelato, Kirala Japanese Cuisine, Mexicana Taqueria, Tigerlily Indian Bistro & Wine Bar, and Flavia Italian Eats. Sunny Side Café would be the first café to open in the space, filling a critical vacancy in available food options.

According to the Epicurious Garden website, The Sunny Side Cafe is listed as “coming soon”, though no other information has been revealed. In the meantime though, you can visit The Sunny Side Café at their original location at 2136 Oxford Street in Berkeley.
