Based on this timing it’s likely that this new Starbucks will open in early 2022, if not by the end of this year. But due to the ongoing supply chain issues faced across the globe, it might be safe to guess that this new build will be completed later than we think.

There are at least 13 Starbucks locations in Oakland proper, not to mention the plethora of locations in surrounding neighborhoods like Alameda, Emeryville, and Berkeley. This new location is just a drop in the sea of Starbucks locations across the globe.

Starbucks originated in 1971 along Pike Place in Seattle, Washington. Ten years later, Howard Schultz visited the first store and was captivated by what he tasted. By the late ‘80s, with Schultz as CEO, Starbucks started to become the coffee chain that we know today.

Kevin Johnson joined the company in 2009, serving on the board of directors before transitioning to President and COO in 2015. In that role, he helped grow Starbucks across the globe, serving as core support in all of the company’s sectors. By 2017, he assumed the role of CEO. For more information, visit www.starbucks.com.
