A new shop is in the works for Souvenir Coffee Co. and it will be right in its hometown of Berkeley! City public records indicate that they will be taking over the former Sack’s Coffee House at 2701 College Ave. This will be the brand’s second Berkeley shop and sixth location overall.
Owner Jeremy Bled told What Now San Francisco this week that he is planning to open on College Avenue in early spring. Whether you’re visiting the Berkeley Playhouse or looking for a new place to study, you will soon be able to head here to enjoy Souvenir’s small batch roasts.
Since its beginnings in 2017 with the Claremont Shop, Souvenir Coffee Co. has seen a rapid expansion throughout the Bay Area—even in the midst of the pandemic. Bled attributes Souvenir’s success to its community of regulars who’ve kept business running over these past several years.
“Every type of food retail business is different. By and large, if you’re a coffee shop and you have a good following, a good group of people before the pandemic, you can survive and do OK,” Bled told Berkleyside last year, adding that his expansion was rooted in his goal of providing more jobs in the area.
