The space, which co-owner Janet Zeng says was once a salon, neighbors Yuanbao Jiaozi Chinese dumpling restaurant. “We chose this area because of the large Asian community here,” says Zeng. “We love this community.”

The new Asian market will be in good company — 25th Irving Market, New May Cheung Co, S & B Supermarket, and Cen Zhu Nong are all within a few blocks.

Zeng and her husband plan to open Siu Wah Food Inc. once construction is finished, but as of right now, no opening date has been announced. As for the food, expect small grocery staples and authentic Asian ingredients. We’ll be heading there to stock up on boxes of Pocky and to get our hands on some kaffir lime leaves.
