It’s called Bark Indoor Dog Park and it’s coming to 1700 McHenry Avenue later this year, according to a liquor license application uncovered by What Now San Francisco.
Yes, you read that right, a liquor license application. While this may conjure images of rough canines drinking, smoking, and playing poker with each other, rest assured that the alcohol isn’t for the dogs – it’s for us.
That’s because Bark is a brand new concept that seeks to unite dogs and humans alike in one friendly play area. As their website says, it’s “a dog park, but with beer.” Dogs and beer, what more could a person want from one place?
The new concept, part dog-park and part bar, will be coming to 1700 McHenry Avenue between Briggsmore Avenue and Granger Avenue. The building was formerly home to an educational supply store and features nearly 20,000 sq. feet of space for humans and dogs to run around and play.
Owned by Elora & Adam Jorgenson, Bark Indoor Dog Park promises to be one of the most unique bars/parks (dare I call it a… bark?) that Modesto has ever seen. At the moment Adam and Elora are finalizing the construction of the park, putting up new walls and prepping the space with artificial grass, tree stumps, and everything else a dog needs to run free and make friends. The humans, meanwhile, will have to be content with dogs and beer, though that should certainly be enough for them.
While Elora couldn’t be reached for further comment, their current plan is to try and open up the park by late August. For more information, be sure to subscribe to their newsletter where they plan to release further details.
