In an announcement via Instagram this week, owner Reesa Kashuk alerted fans that the new shop will be located at 5004 Telegraph Ave. in Temescal. She anticipates opening by early fall at the latest, after completing a full buildout on the space. In the meantime, she will continue baking from her commercial kitchen in Oakland and is fundraising for the shop through SMBX, which allows fans to earn interest on their investment in Poppy Bagels.

Kashuk tells Eater SF that the new shop will be able to accommodate indoor dining with counter seats and benches. The space also has one room for prepping dough and cream cheese, plus another room specifically for bagel baking. She plans to install a revolving deck oven, which will enable her to bake more bagels at a time and allows the bagels to bake more evenly.

Primarily sticking to classic flavors – plain, everything, sesame, poppy, garlic, onion, salt and pepper – Kashuk plans to have 10 bagel flavors on the menu, plus eight sandwich options. A self-proclaimed “bagel purist,” her flavor experimentation is found in her cream cheese flavors, such as Chivey Lemony Nova Lox and Roasted Balsamic Strawberry.
