“Dabao Singapore, known for street food dishes like laksa and black pepper crab, will open this fall at the food court inside the Metreon at the corner of Fourth and Mission streets, according to an Instagram announcement,” the Journal reports.
“My goal is to re-create a similar experience, but in San Francisco,” the concept’s owner, Emily Lim, shares.
For readers who are unfamiliar with Dabao, Lim — a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Emerging Chef award this year — started the business by catering during the pandemic, delivering “homemade meal kits” such as “poached Hainanese chicken rice, chili crab with garlic noodles and curry puffs” to residents throughout the Bay Area, according to the Chronicle.
What Now San Francisco reached out to Lim to inquire about her plans for the space, but she could not provide additional information before publication.
An opening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
