Mr. Delarue was the owner and chef at Patisserie Philippe on 655 Townsend St. that opened in 2007, it has since closed down. This bakery was well-known and highly praised at the time, so his return is probably highly anticipated in the community.

Mr. Delarue refused to comment but did say “you will know everything you need to soon,” and that the next updates will be posted on NextDoor.

The former establishment offered classic French staples such as croissants, macarons, cakes, as well as salads and sandwiches. As for Patisserie on California, it seems like it will be much of the same.

On his old website, it told of Mr. Delarue’s story, born in Le Mans, France, and started off his career as an apprentice at Etablissement Lenôtre, a very well-known institution.

Although we don’t know what Mr. Delarue’s plans are, we hope this time around he brings a little ‘je ne sais quoi.’
