Italian American restaurant Original Joe’s plans to open a new outpost in Walnut Creek. Co-owners and siblings John and Elena Duggan share with the San Francisco Chronicle that the restaurant will be at 1300 S. Main Street, near the Broadway Plaza shopping center, in a 9,000-square-foot space previously home to Stanford’s Restaurant and Bar.

Original Joe’s on Main Street plans to open in 2024. In the meantime, the Duggans tell San Francisco Chronicle that they will fully remodel the space and work to acquire the required licensing. Upon opening, the restaurant will offer seating for 250 diners, with both indoor and outdoor options available. The decor and layout will remain consistent with the original location—crescent booths, communal counter seating, and a cocktail lounge area.

The Duggans, a family of restauranteurs since the ’30s, are introducing the Original Joe’s expansion in tandem with the launch of a new casual Italian American eatery in the Marina, as well as Casa Elena, a West Portal restaurant that will serve Mexican American cuisine.

What Now San Francisco was unable to contact a restaurant representative by the time of publication.
