According to a license application uncovered by What Now San Francisco, the team behind Ohza Mimosas are preparing to launch a brand new beverage importer at 1611 San Pablo Ave, Suite 2A under the name Simple Skiff Beverages INC.
Ohza began in 2019 when founder Ryan Ayotte and his friends were sailing off the coast of cape cod. Trying to mix the cocktails they brought along proved futile amidst the crashing waves, and so the canned mimosa was born.
Starting out with a classic mimosa, the young company grew quickly and within their first year they were ready to launch three new flavors – Belini, Mango Mimosa, and Cranberry Mimosa. Now, only a few years after starting and Ohza can already be found in 43 states across the US. Featuring exclusively vegan and gluten-free ingredients and a specially formulated sparkling wine with zero sugar, Ohza mimosas are a low-calorie necessity for any summer party.
For Ryan and the team at Simple Skiff, it’s not enough to just sell cocktails and succeed. Instead, they’ve dedicated their company to a mission, “to bring accountability to the industry by being proudly transparent about [their] product, but also pushing for regulations that require this of all brands.” Ryan and his team are proud of the ingredients they use to make Ohza Mimosas and they want other companies to stop trying to hide information like sugar content from unknowing customers.
Part of this plan evidently is opening up a distribution center of their own. The company recently acquired a Beer and Wine Importer’s License for their new Berkeley location. This coincides with the recent revival of Ohza’s specialty mimosa kegs, which had to be abandoned during the 2020 pandemic. Now that the team is moving forward with new plans though, the revival of the Ohza keg makes Ohza the only mimosa that is available on draft.
At the moment, Bay Area residents can try out Ohza Mimosas at their local BevMo! or Whole Foods.
