Metro Taquero is nearly set to open its fourth location in Hayward pretty soon. A pending beer and wine license found in state public records indicates that they will open a new location at 1199 W. A St. at the Skywest Commons shopping center next to Hayward Executive Airport.
The local taqueria chain has this location up on their website listed as “Coming Soon!” The timing of the ABC license suggests that an opening is imminent over the coming months. Metro Taquero also recently put out a call for hiring on their Facebook page.
Owner Alejandro Gamarra was unable to provide comment at the time of publication. Gamarra established his business in 1993, originally as a taco truck called Tacos Acapulco, which soon became a Hayward institution on the corner of A Street and Royal Avenue.
Over the years they’ve gone through some name changes, first to Acapulco Taqueria and now Metro Taquero. Alongside his family and dedicated staff, Gamarra continues to serve the greater Hayward area with his exceptional tacos, tortas, and burritos made with certified Angus beef, natural pork, and natural chicken.
