“As local operators, we have appreciated Magnolia’s rich history as a pioneer of craft beer and hospitality in San Francisco. Magnolia Brewing Company has anchored the iconic corner of Haight and Masonic for decades,” the statement shares.
It continues, “The name speaks to its deep connection to San Francisco and the Haight’s counter-cultural roots. As San Franciscans, we want to applaud New Belgium Brewing for its fantastic stewardship of Magnolia’s uniquely San Francisco brand, and we are honored to take over the reins.”
Behind the concept is Kevin Kynoch, the owner of popular Bay Area establishments such as Fly Bar, Fishbowl, and Polo Grounds. By his side will also be Brandon Phillips of 21st Amendment and Brian Reccow of Specialistas Hospitality Solutions.
On the menu, “the on-site basement brewery will balance new and exciting recipes, San Francisco collaborations, while also paying homage to Magnolia classics (Kali Kolsch, etc). The food will feature carefully curated small plates at approachable prices to allow guests to define their dining experience.”
Kynoch tells What Now San Francisco that Magnolia Brewing Company is slated to open on November 1. Stay tuned for updates.
