Brunello Cucinelli is possibly coming to the Stanford Shopping Center in Menlo Park at 180 El Camino Real, according to a building permit filed with the City of Palo Alto. The permit notes use of occupancy on an existing retail space with tenant improvements, which will include architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. Based on the scope of this job, it’s possible we won’t see an opening until 2022.

Brunello Cucinelli founded his eponymous company out of inspiration for his wife, Federica, who hailed from an Italian village called Solomeo, where she ran a small clothing shop. Cucinelli had an idea for colored cashmere knitwear for women and thanks to interest in the German market, he was able to develop his idea and eventually create long-lasting garments for people of all ages.

The company now owns 94 of its 124 branded stores worldwide, selling products that are hand-made in Italy. They are known for being a “humanistic enterprise,” donating 20-percent of profits to charity and paying 20-percent higher than the industry average. Representatives for Brunello Cucinelli could not yet be reached for comment at the time of publication.
