Raising Cane’s has taken the nation by storm by serving a simple menu based on chicken fingers and fries. Customers flock to Raising Cane’s for the freshly fried chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and their very own Cane’s sauce.

The chain was founded in 1996 by CEO Todd Graves in Louisiana. In college, Graves had a dream of opening a restaurant that focused on chicken fingers. Working long hours as a boilermaker and commercial fisher, he built up enough capital to open his first restaurant. The venture was named after his yellow labrador who accompanied him during construction.

Now, Raising Cane’s earns upwards of 1.5 billion dollars in revenue and has over 500 locations throughout the world. This would be the chain’s first location in Oakland. At the time of publication, representatives for Raising Cane’s have been contacted but have yet to respond to confirm an opening date.
