Hilda and Jesse, under the helm of San Francisco fine-dining duo Kristina Compton and Rachel Sillcocks, has been popping up in kitchens throughout the city and serving up Latvian-inspired breakfast foods at all hours of the day. Now, they’ve finally secured their own home, in the space that was once North Beach Gyros, at 701 Union Street on the southwest corner of Washington Square.

Sillcocks, who’s worked in San Francisco restaurants for seventeen years, including Cyrus, Nopa, and Range, will be Director of Operations, while Compton, who was formerly Chef de Cuisine at Avery and has fifteen years of experience in kitchens, will take creative control over the menu, inspired by her Latvian heritage.

“Working in fine dining, I’ve always felt kind of stunted with what we can do,” Compton said in an interview with Eater. In its new home, Hilda and Jesse will continue to break the fine dining mold, and offer hearty, unique breakfast food, no matter what time of day you show up.

There’s been no word yet as to when they plan to open their new spot, but rumor has it an announcement should be coming soon on their website and Instagram page.

They discriminate against police. I hope they fail.

I’m so glad I don’t live in SF. I visited a few times way back in the 80s. It was nice. NEVER going back.

Beyond their descrimination, one patron posted a copy of a check. No thanks. $58.00 for pancakes. They add 20 percent for wage differentiation. So patrons have to pat your employee’s? Then the SF addons add 35 percent to the bill.

Meanwhile they determine who can eat there? Hope they don’t make a year. When a mob descends on them….who will their first call be to?

Hope they don’t have need of police assistance ever, in their lives. The idea that a place would not serve officers, who put themselves directly into harm’s way, is disgusting. They should go out of business.

I’d rather have good guys with guns than bad guys with guns in my place of business

I won’t go there again. I feel safer with good guys with guns.

what I find stunning is that SF is suffering a crime wave, and yet, the employees don’t feel comfortable with armed police officers in their restaurant because they have guns. haven’t those woke morons noticed that there’s a major crime wave? I would have fired those employees before asking the cops to leave. in fact, I’d give cops free food.

If they discriminate against our Police, I will never patronize that place. I don’t feel safe there now that everyone knows they don’t allow uniformed officers in their establishment.
