Gopuff delivery service is soon to establish a San Francisco storefront at 3535 Geary Blvd. This past summer, a lease was signed for a 12,850-square-foot building in Jordan Park that was previously occupied by Pier 1 Imports. The large space will finally allow customers to shop in-person for all their convenience needs, from ice cream to OTC medications, while also helping the company fulfill a constant surplus of online orders.

Gopuff has seen significant growth in business, especially since the start of the pandemic. With stay-at-home orders in place across the nation, Gopuff has made it easy for people to have food and consumer goods delivered to their doorsteps within minutes. The company is lauded for their minimal delivery fee, which is due in part to over 500 micro-fulfillment centers that house more than 3,000 products in their inventory – eliminating the extra step of having drivers to go to another store and shop for items.

Gopuff was founded in 2013 by Drexel University students Yakir Gola and Rafael Ilishayev. Having to balance school and social commitments, the pair felt it simply took too much time to have to constantly stock their home with their daily essentials. They began drafting notes for an app that would solve this problem and soon started delivering those essentials to their classmates from the back of their van.

It wouldn’t take long before the idea took off and within eight years, Gopuff would establish itself in over 1,000 cities nationwide and acquire the delivery business for over 160 BevMo! Stores, according to a recent report. Suspected to open doors around Spring 2022, San Francisco is just one of many cities to expect a Gopuff location. Neither Gola or Ilishayev were available for comment.
