Founded by Four Barrel Coffee co-owners Jodi Geren and Tal Mor, Loquat is an exciting new concept that will function like a sister restaurant to Four Barrel Coffee, which sounds like a perfect pairing. Who isn’t going to need a fresh pastry with their locally-sourced dark roast?

Loquat will be occupying the space previously inhabited by the recently-shuttered 20th Century Café at 198 Gough Street. 20th Century Café was a popular restaurant that thrived in the neighborhood for eight years but struggled to keep its doors open when the Covid-19 pandemic made operating a small business in San Francisco untenable.

Fortunately for Geren and Mor though, the team was able to secure the lease for Loquat and are even alleged to have inherited 20th Century Café’s set of fine china. Occupying a beautiful building on the corner of Oak and Gough Street, the new restaurant is sure to attract some substantial foot traffic.

Jodi Geren envisions Loquat as a fusion between a bakery and wine bar, offering delightful treats for customers no matter the hour. She was able to confirm with What Now San Francisco that her team is planning to set an opening for late Fall 2021, but that at this moment they are still too early into the process to confirm anything else.

In the meantime, Four Barrel Coffee is still running smoothly and is open for business. If you’d like to try a taste of their coffee then be sure to visit their Flagship store at 375 Valencia Street.
