The Filipino-style BBQ food truck Thank Que Grill is opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Oakland. According to a recently approved zoning application, the eatery will arrive at 1920 Dennison Street, taking over a space currently home to Koko Chicken and Burger. Some nearby establishments include the Thai restaurant Banana Blossom, El Burrito Supreme, and Quinn’s Lighthouse.
On the Thank Que Grill website, Owner and Chef Rene Lontoc shares that he “wants to give his fellow Filipino people a tasty reminder of home and introduce the delicious flavors of the Philippines to the wider community with his unique Filipino Style BBQ.”
While it’s unclear whether or not the menu will be expanded now that Lontoc has full-time access to a much larger kitchen, the current one offers bowls, banh mi, and BBQ chicken. Additionally, Thank Que Grill provides catering, including dishes like lumpia Shanghai, sigsig, adobo, and pancit bihon — also known as birthday noodles.
The eatery’s proposed hours are from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, from Monday through Saturday, but an opening date has not yet been announced.
