Daniel Machado, the owner of the establishment told What Now San Francisco he and his team have been working on Brethren Brewing since 2010 and are excited that they now have a home base in Manteca, where they have finally begun work on the building and plan to “change Manteca one pint at a time.”

Machado and his group are from the area and aren’t impressed with downtown life nowadays, so they saw an opportunity to help bring change to the community and even give back. This small beer manufacturer is not profit motivated, they even intend on giving the proceeds from the brewery to local nonprofits.

With over a decade in the making and the building, which is one of the oldest in Manteca, being bought by Machado about two years ago the grand opening has definitely been long-awaited.

Brethren doesn’t have a trademark beer and prides themselves in brewing every style of beer. Machado says he’ll brew and sell whatever people like the most.

“We’ll go where the people want.”

Machado says people like their two lighter beers, The Lawnmower and Der Rasenmaher (German for The Lawnmower).

Although they have yet to set a date for an opening, Machado tells me they’re shooting for the end of fall of this year.

When they do open, we’ll be sure to go check out the new place and get through the extensive beer list, one pint at a time.
