Owned by prop stylist and business owner Jaimi Holker, The Laundromat will be opening on 3725 Balboa Street. At the moment, the location is currently occupied by a laundromat, specifically Let’s Do Wash laundromat.

According to a permit uncovered by What Now San Francisco, 3725 Balboa Street is in the process of being approved for restaurant use, meaning that Jaimi and her team will be converting the existing laundromat into a full brick-and-mortar restaurant with food and alcohol.

Jaimi is the president (and lead artist) of Blue Ceiling Prop Shop, one of San Francisco’s leading prop styling industry rental resources. She also operates the Balboa Theatre with Adam Bergeron, having taken ownership all the way back in 2012 from former owner Gary Meyer.

In fact, the Balboa Theatre is only a block away from The Laundromat, right across 38th Ave. The Laundromat may even end up becoming the definitive hang-out spot for Outer Richmond cinephiles.

Jaimi was able to speak with What Now San Francisco and confirm the plans for her new restaurant, but wanted to keep the details close to her chest until more permits have been approved. She wasn’t ready to confirm a menu or intended schedule for opening, saying that they’re too early into the process to speak confidently about it, but that they’ll be happy to share more information as they continue to move forward.

Regardless of the finer details, with Jaimi’s aesthetic mastery and deep cinematic literacy, The Laundromat is sure to be a restaurant like few have seen before. A prop stylist who owns an independent cinema is certain to start a restaurant with a uniquely specific vision.
