Inner Sunset is due for a cheese shop. Willow on the Green, a luxury pantry store specializing in British and Portuguese cheeses and pantry products, is set to open this summer at 1327B 9th Avenue, between Irving and Judah Streets.

Co-owner Alex Sinclair and his business partner Derrick Soares, who together own Soares & Sinclair hospitality group, decided to open the cheese shop after noticing a lack of luxury, imported cheese options in the area. “We thought Willow on the Green would add something different to the neighborhood, a crucial component that the area has been lacking for years,” says Sinclair, who has lived in Inner Sunset for ten years and lives just a few blocks away from the new shop.

Willow on the Green, which bills itself as a “picnic provisions store,” will sell specialty pantry items, cheeses, meats, and prepared meals and sandwiches, as well as Scottish and Welsh imports. The idea, Sinclair says, is to head to the shop for some great picnic food, then take your food down the street and into the park. “We won’t offer any seating, but we don’t need to,” says Sinclair. “Our seating is the Golden Gate Park.”

Willow on the Green will hopefully open by July 1st, the perfect time of year for a classy picnic in the park, if we do say so ourselves. Head to Willow on the Green for your picnic supplies in a few weeks.
